To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a better place...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
A little cliché, perhaps, but overall things that I agree with. At least it's not that dumb "dance like nobody's watching" business...
computer has been acting up recently so no new photos. more ... eventually?

May is a really good month
Everything is beautiful today. Sunny temperate weather, culinary experiments with Hadley, serious decisions concerning the practicality of adorable shoes, good company this morning and good company to come...There is that looming paper deadline, but it's not close enough to seem truly serious... yet.

more pictures of food... because that's what i love.
tuesday: pale sun and a windowsill

slowly but surely i'm figuring out my camera works. i was just playing around with exposure and shutter speed and taking pictures in my room, but i rather liked this one. i like how the candle is peeking out, a little bit shy, from behind the curtain.
on another note:

this is what hadley and i cooked for dinner sunday night. delicious porkchops stuffed with dried fruit, onions, and garlic in a delicious sauce from the pan plus rainbow chard sautéed with butter. we've decided that we're not very good at being college students. we should be eating way more ramen that this.

amo firenze
Italy is my favorite place. Ever. The highlights:
perfect cappucino, in every bar, for a euro
fresh pasta
watching the pasta lady slice our pasta for us in the market
the dried fruit stand
saying ciao
red tile roofs
seeing an Artemisia Gentileschi painting
NOT the limoncello.
